Chelsea 5-1 Shamrock Rovers: Marc Guiu Nets a Hat-trick as Blues Remain Unbeaten In The Conference League. It’s A Six Out Of Six Wins For The Blues.
A Marc Guiu hat-trick, as well as goals from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Cucurella, helped Chelsea to a decisive 5-1 victory in the Conference League’s final match against Shamrock Rovers.
Chelsea finished their league phase campaign in the UEFA Conference League in style, defeating Shamrock Rovers to achieve a perfect record. The home team dominated the first half and opened the lead midway through, when Marc Guiu took advantage of a defensive mix-up between Darragh Burns and Leon Pohls to head home from close range.
However, their advantage lasted only four minutes as following a corner from Rovers, a first-time effort on the edge of the area by Markus Poom deflected in.
Chelsea restored their lead when Guiu seized onto a bad back pass from Daniel Cleary, around the goalkeepe and slotting home his second of the game.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored his third goal six minutes later with a well-placed effort from within the 18-yard area. Chelsea were not finished, though, as Guiu headed home Noni Madueke’s cross to complete his hat-trick only seconds before the half-time whistle.
Just shy of the hour mark, the home side got a fifth, with Christopher Nkunku passing through Marc Cucurella, who tapped home for his second goal in as many appearances for the Blues.
Substitute Joao Felix came close to scoring several times, but was unable to add to Chelsea’s lead. Nonetheless, Enzo Maresca’s team put on a dominant display, winning 5-1. The Blues will hope to continue their fine form on Sunday when they travel to Goodison Park to face Everton in their final fixture before Christmas.
