Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho wins 2024 FIFA Puskas Award, which is the annual prize handed out to the most beautiful goal scored in the previous season.
Garnacho’s superb overhead kick against Everton in the Premier League last year in November has been awarded as the most beautiful goal scored.
It was an amazing display of athleticism that came out of nowhere in the third minute of the game at Goodison Park. There were similarities to Wayne Rooney’s performance against Manchester City in 2011, when he took flight to meet Diogo Dalot’s cross from the right wing.

“I can’t believe it to be honest,” GarnachoĀ toldĀ Sky SportsĀ at the time.
“I didn’t see how I scored. I just listened to the crowd and said, ‘Oh my god’. It’s still November, but probably one of the goals of the season. One of the best goals I’ve scored, I’m very happy. I say it is very much like Rooney’s goal. I don’t know which one is better. Both are incredible goals.”
It marks the sixth occasion in 15 years that the Puskas Award winner has been scored in a Premier League match, following Olivier Giroud (2017), Mohamed Salah (2018), Son Heung-min (2020), and Erik Lamela (2021). Garnacho, who turned 20 in July, concluded last season with ten goals in all competitions.
