According to Mundo Deportivo, Keylor Navas is willing to join FC Barcelona as the Catalan club is desperate in search of a replacement for Marc Andre ter Stegen after he suffered a knee injury last weekend against Villareal. German goalkeeper, Ter Stegen, underwent surgery on Monday after rupturing his patella tendon on Sunday in his right knee on Sunday afternoon. Sources close to Barcelona revealed on Sunday evening that the Catalan club will decide whether to sign a replacement or not on Tuesday morning. The final decision of their discussions is to sign a replacement for the German goalkeeper and not wait until the January transfer.
With this, popular free agents like Keylor Navas and Wojciech Szczęsny were on the top list of possible replacement for the Barcelona captain. Fresh reports coming from Mundo Deportivo states that, Keylor Navas will join the Catalan club for a year as a temporary replacement for Stegen.
Keylor Navas spent five years with Real Madrid right from 2014 to 2019 and left to Paris Saint-Germain. His contract at Paris expired at the end of last season and is now a free agent. According to Mundo, the 37-year-old Costa Rican goalkeeper will be willing to join FC Barcelona only if he’s assured to be a regular starter ahead of Inaki Pena. In terms of salary, the goalkeeper has no issues as he’s willing to return to action.
Keylor Navas has had several approaches in the past transfer window but turned all down just to prioritise a move to a club he will be their first choice goalkeeper. This decision came after he became a second option at PSG after they signed Italian goalkeeper Donnarumma.
