Leicester City have agreed a fee with Crystal Palace for striker Jordan Ayew. The improved bid has been accepted by Palace, paving the way for Ayew’s departure after a spell at the club since 2018.

The Ghanaian international, who turns 33 next month, has made 211 appearances for Palace and scored 23 goals. A deal worth an initial £5 million plus £3 million add-ons has been struck for the 32-year-old Ghanaian international. The Ghanaian international began his career at Ligue 1 club Marseille before scoring 13 goals for Lorient in the 2014–15 season, preceding a move to Aston Villa. Ayew spent a season and a half at Villa before joining his elder brother Andre at Swansea.
Ayew initially joined Palace from Swansea City on a loan deal in the summer of 2018 before making a permanent move the following year.
Ayew’s role at Palace has been reduced under new manager Oliver Glasner, with the Ghanaian international being a second-half substitute in Palace’s recent Premier League defeat to Brentford. Leicester manager Steve Cooper, who has previously worked with Ayew’s older brother Andre at Nottingham Forest and Swansea City, is focused on enhancing his attacking options.
Cooper has emphasized the need to strengthen the squad, particularly in the forward positions. “We know where we want to strengthen, we know where we want to improve. If we can improve a starter in the team, we’ll do that, and we know we need to strengthen the competition in some places as well,” Cooper said earlier this month.
He is set to undergo a medical and will become the newly promoted club’s seventh signing of the summer if all goes as planned. Leicester has signed Oliver Skipp, Abdul Fatawu, Caleb Okoli, and Bobby De Cordova Reid. Leicester City have agreed to pay Crystal Palace £8 million for forward Jordan Ayew, increasing their initial £4 million offer, which was rejected.
Ayew’s Premier League experience could be a valuable addition to Leicester’s attacking line-up, complementing the formidable Jamie Vardy. What are your expectations as Ayew is set to join his Ghanaian teammate, Abdul Fatawu
