Real Madrid and Barcelona played their first El Clásico of the season in New Jersey at the MetLife Stadium on Saturday evening. The game was delayed over an hour due to weather conditions and constant thunder lightning.

FC Barcelona took the lead at the 42nd minute through a header from Pau Victor after a soft touch from Robert Lewandowski. The scoreline was 1-0 at the end of the first half. 8 minutes into the second half, Pau Victor doubled the lead through a sensational outside the boot assist from Alex Valle.

Real Madrid will play their last pre-season game against Chelsea on August 6 then proceed to play the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta on August 14.
Real Madrid’s new signing Kylian Mbappé did not feature in the El Clásico. Mbappé, who featured in the Euro last month, is still on holiday and expected to return to camp before the super cup final. Jude Bellingham and Mbappé is expected to feature in the Super Cup.
