PARIS 2024: Ghana’s Saminu And Azamati Books A Place In The Semi-Finals. They Are Both Set To Compete Sunday, 4th August, 2024 at 18: 00 GMT Prompt at Stade de France, Paris, France.

Ghana’s Benjamin Azamati and Rahseed Abdul Saminu has booked places in the 2024 Olympic games in Paris. After missing out in Tokyo, Azamati has succeeded in booking himself a spot in the semi-finals race after placing second with just 8 nano seconds behind Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson who finished with a time of 10:00 seconds.

26 year Old Benjamin Azamati, born in Ghana to John and faustina Azamti, is a professional athlete who currently competes for ASICS Global. He is dubbed the fastest man in Ghana after completing a 100m race in 10.02 seconds in the 2019 Ghana fastest Human Competition.

After the race, in an interview with Ghana’s media committee,  Azamati Bejamin expressed his joy after for being able to book as spot in the semi- finals, despite placing third. He went on to let express a few words on how inspired he was with regards to being able to compete in the 2024 Olympic games in Paris. He said

“It’s more about representing and inspiring the young athletes back home. Anytime I put on the jersey, I’m just happy to do my best. My first outing in the Olympics, I got out in the heats so I made it a point to come out here and get into the Semifinals.”

 

Following the semi-final race, Azamati will compete against some top athletes such as USA’S Noah Lyles, Nigeria’s Favour Ashe, UK’s Rikkoi Bradwaithe and Jamaica’s Oblique Seville. The odds may or may not be in favor of Ghana, but the Ghanaian masses are rooting in favor of their own, Bejamin Azamati.

Not far from this, Azamati’s fellow Ghanaian Abdul Rasheed Saminu has also succeeded in buying himself a spot in the semi finals as well after finishing third to Favour Ashe of Nigeria and Lamont Marcell Jacobs of italy with 10.06 seconds. . In his race, he faces the like of  Kishane Thompson who finished with a time of 10:00 seconds in his race Azamati, Zharnel Huges of Great Britain and De Grease of Canada.

The semi- finals will proceed with three heats of which the top two finishers in each of the heats together with two fastest finishes will progress to the finals. Time schedule for the commencement of the first heat is 18: 0.5 GMT.
